Roger Edelen, MD was born and raised in Alaska. He graduated from college at the University of Alaska in Anchorage. Dr. Edelen attended Medical School at the University of Missouri in Columbia. After graduation he started residency in OB-GYN at Fitzsimons Army Medical Center in Denver, Colorado. Dr. Edelen is a Diplomate of the American Board of Anesthesia and he is also a Diplomate of the American Academy of Pain Management.
The government closed Fitzsimons Army Medical Center and he went back to the University of Missouri, with a civilian deferment, to do anesthesia. This is when Dr. Edelen discovered he liked pain management medicine. Dr. Edelen spent extra time doing pain management practice and studied cardiac, vascular and trauma anesthesia in his last year of residency.
Dr. Edelen went back to active duty because of a critical shortage need. He did acute and some chronic pain while he was on active duty in Germany and Bosnia.
After, Dr. Edelen was honorably discharged from the army he worked across the country. He was offered a job in Mesa, AZ where his mother and step father lived, therefore he accepted the position. He mostly practiced anesthesia. In 2008 Dr. Edelen started his own practice in Casa Grande in full time pain management.
